In It's Place

An old proverb tells us, "A place for everything, and everything in it's place."  There is much truth in this.  Especially where the things of God are concerned.  We know that nothing provided by God is to no purpose.  He expects us to respect His provisions and their purpose.

Jesus told Peter, "Put your sword in it's places..." (Matthew 26:52).  While Jesus spoke to Peter of a physical sword, we might also apply this phrase to us and the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17).  The sword of the Spirit is the word of God, and it is God's provision for our knowledge of His will.

We must practice wielding the sword of the Spirit.  To wait until the day of the battle would be fool-hardy.  We must know God's word, and be able to take it to others.  We must be able to defend the kingdom, and everything about it, when error attacks.

It is important to have the Spirit's sword in the right place at the right time (or perish).  It should be in our lives, and in our interaction with others.  Is the sword of the Spirit "in it's place" in your life?...  It is never out of place in the life of a "Christian soldier"!
