"He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power (right, NKJB) to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." (John 1:11-12).
It is a matter of fact that each one is either a son of God or he is not. If he is a son of God, then he could not become that which he already is. The passage above teaches that the believer is given the right to become a son. What must the believer do? Let the scripture answer. They were told, "repent and be baptized...every one of you, for the remission of sins" (Acts 2:36-38).
In the days of Jesus, "among the chief rulers also many believed on him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue; for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God" (John 12:42).
It is still true those who believe on Him are given the right to become sons of God. Each chooses whether he will become a son. What about you?
