Introduction: a. The lesson is centered on one of the most important subjects in the Bible, “Baptism”. b. Much emphasis is placed upon this subject, for many reasons. 1. Only entrance into Christ 2. It is a command. 3. Washes away sin. 4. Last act in becoming a Christian. c. Yet, we have Six Baptisms mentioned in the Bible.
Body: 1. Baptism of Israel. a. It was a type of immersion. Exodus 14:21-22 b. The reason for this baptism. Exodus 14:27-30 c. It has been fulfilled. 1 Corinthians 10:1-2
2. Baptism of John.
a. This was an immersion in water. Matthew 3:13-17; Mark
1:9-11
b. The reason for this baptism. Mark 1:4
c. This one was also fulfilled. John 1:29-34; Acts 19:1-

3. Baptism of fire.
a. Mentioned by John the Baptist. Matthew 3:11-12
b. This is going to be an immersion. Revelation 20:10
c. Reason for this baptism. Revelation 14:10-11
d. This one will be fulfilled on that great day. 2

4. Baptism of suffering. a. This one was a type of immersion. Matthew 20:20-23 b. The reason for this baptism. Acts 20:28 b. This one was also fulfilled. John 19:30
5. Baptism of the Holy Spirit.
a. This one has received much abuse.
b. It was an immersion. Acts 2:1-4; 10:44-47; 11:14-16
c. The reason has been given. John 14:26; John 16:13
d. This one was fulfilled. 1 Corinthians 13:8-10;
Ephesians 4:11-14
6. The one baptism. Ephesians 4:5; of the Great Commission – Matthew 28:19-20; to last until the end of time; administered by man. a. This one is an immersion. Romans 6:1-5 b. The subject: A penitent believer. Acts 8:36-38 c. The reason for this baptism. Acts 2:38
Conclusion: a. Water baptism is the ONE baptism mentioned by Paul. Ephesians. b. Christ gave this command to men. Matthew 28:18-20 c. To be saved, you must be baptized. Mark 16:15-16
