The Point of No Return...

Introduction:

Illustrations: WWII bombing raids over Germany; Going over Niagara Falls.

I) Bible Warnings of a Point Of No Return - Hebrews 6:1-6; 10:26-29; I John 5:16; Mark 3:28-30

* If desirous of returning and you do, then you never reached that

point! But God says, "Be careful, you may go too far."

II) When Reached?

* What is used by God to renew one to repentance?

Word of God - Romans 1:16

Providence - Godly sorrow produces repentance - II Cor. 7:10

* What is touched in man by these that leads one to repent?

The heart of man - Hebrews 4:12

* Conclusion: When the heart is no longer responsive to the pricks of the sword of the Spirit (God's word - Ephesians 6:17) then the

point of no return has been reached.

 

* Reached by many in Jesus' day - John 12:37-40

 

* Both Christians and non-Christians can be so affected.

III) How Reached?

* Heart hardened by sin - Hebrews 3:12-15; Romans 1:21-28

* Heart hardened by error and resistance of God's law - Acts 7:51-54

* By neglect - Hebrews 2:1-3; 4:1-2,6-7,11; Proverbs 1:20-33

* By delay - Prov. 29:1

IV) A Grave Warning - Hebrews 12:14-17

Conclusion:

Are you touched by the message of eternal salvation? Are your heart strings pricked by the sword of the Spirit? Then do not continue in sin and error, nor neglect or delay any

longer! Return today to the Shepherd and Bishop of your soul (I Peter 2:25).
